About this course

In Portuguese level 4, you will mainly develop your speaking and listening skills. You will acquire the necessary skills to understand a Portuguese conversation, express your opinion in Portuguese and read Portuguese news. In the course you expand your basic knowledge of Portuguese because we work a lot with current topics. In addition, you will learn more about Portuguese traditions.

This course follows on Portuguese level 3, but can also be taken separately if you have A1+ level. Not sure what your language level is? Then take our free placement test.

Learning goals

In Portuguese level 4, you will work towards language level A2-.

After completing this course you are able to:

confidently hold an everday conversation in Portuguese.
express your opinion and present advantages and disadvantages clearly in a conversation.
talk about the past and the future without much difficulty.

Method

As a teaching method, we use the book ‘Portugues XXI – nova edicao 2’. The method of this course alternates between classroom teaching, pair exercises and role plays. In all these teaching methods, the focus is on speaking and listening skills. Music and adapted exercises are widely used to promote language learning.

Time investment

Portuguese 4 consists of 9 sessions of 1,5 hours at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
To ensure that you can benefit the most from the classes, you should expect to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours per week on study and the completion of materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the classes.

Practical

The teacher will speak Portuguese as much as possible. Participants can ask questions in Spanish or in Dutch.
You can order the necessary books for this course via our website’s Order Books page. You should make sure to have the book before the start of the first lesson.
You will receive a certificate if you attend at least 8 of the 9 classes.
