Italian 5 course (A1+ → A1++)

Level: Intermediate (A2/B1)
Have you completed Italian level 4 and do you want to develop yourself further? Or have you acquired knowledge of the Italian language in another way? In this course, you will work towards language level A1++.

About Italian 5
The course is suitable if you have completed Italian level 4 or if you have A1+ level through other means. For example by successfully completing the Allegro 2 teaching method or the Con Piacere 2 teaching method (up to chapter 3). Not sure what your language level is? Then take our free placement test.
In this course, you practise reading longer articles and looking up specific information in written texts. You will learn to understand the main idea of an article. You will learn the imperfect past tense to tell about your childhood and youth, and still the simple future tense to express future events or plans.

Learning goals
In Italian level 5, you work towards language level A1++.
After completing this course you:
- can hold simple conversations in Italian fluently.
- will understand the main idea of long Italian articles.
- be ready to live and work in beautiful Italy.
Method
- During the meetings, you will practise the grammar lessons from the book under the guidance of an experienced teacher. For many assignments, you work in pairs, giving feedback on each other’s work. This is not only instructive for the other person, but also for yourself.
- As a teaching method, we use the clear and comprehensive ‘Allegro nuovo 2’ method. We assume that you have the textbook and workbook of this method with you during the first meeting, so that we can make a good start.
Time investment
- Italian 5 consists of 9 sessions of 1,5 hours at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
- To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the classes, you should expect to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours per week on study and the completion of materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the classes
Practical
- The teacher will speak Italian as much as possible. Participants can ask questions in Italian or in Dutch.
- You can order the necessary books for this course via our website’s Order Books page. You should make sure to have the book before the start of the first lesson.
- You will receive a certificate if you attend at least 8 of the 9 classes.
