Have you completed Italian level 1 and do you want to develop your language skills further? Or have you acquired knowledge of the language in another way? In Italian level 2, you work towards language level A1-.

About Italian 2
This course is suitable if you have completed Italian level 1 or if you have achieved language level A1– through other means. For example by successfully completing the teaching methods Allegro 1 (up to chapter 6) or Con Piacere 1 (up to chapter 3). Not sure what your language level is? Then take our free placement test.
You will learn some new irregular verbs, practise using prepositions and expand your vocabulary.
In terms of reading skills, you will practise with texts that are of a slightly higher level than in the first course. You will also practise looking up specific information in, for example, advertising brochures or advertisements. When improving your writing skills, you work mainly on expanding your vocabulary and your knowledge of grammar rules.
Besides reading and writing, the emphasis is on your communication skills and pronunciation. You learn to speak more confidently in Italian so that you can speak more convincingly and convey your meaning clearly. You will also learn how to quickly interpret the answers you receive.
Learning goals
In Italian Level 2, you work towards language level A1-.
After completing this course you:
- master the basics of Italian grammar and vocabulary;
- can quickly look up specific information in Italian texts;
- are ready for Italian level 3.
Method
- During these meetings, you will practise the grammar lessons from the book under the guidance of an experienced teacher.
- For many assignments, you work in pairs, giving feedback on each other’s work. This is not only instructive for the other person, but also for yourself.
Time investment
- Italian 2 consists of 9 sessions of 1,5 hours at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
- To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the classes, you should expect to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours per week on study and the completion of materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the classes.
Practical
- The teacher will speak Italian as much as possible. Participants can ask questions in Italian or in Dutch.
- You can order the necessary books for this course via our website’s Order Books page. You should make sure to have the book before the start of the first lesson.
- You will receive a certificate if you attend at least 8 of the 9 classes.
